RM285K in grants given to 29 bodies

Date:

KUCHING: A total of RM285,000 in special allocation grants were presented to 29 organisations in the Samarahan district.

Kota Samarahan MP Rubiah Wang said among the recipients were frontline task force agencies, village committees and also non-governmental organisations (NGOs).

“The provision of the grants was to enable these organisations to carry out moral and physical support activities to help those affected by Covid-19,” she said when presenting the grants to the representatives of the organisations at her office on Friday.

“The roles of organisations or associations should not be limited, they need to be expanded in helping the local communities.

“We hope that with their joint involvement, we can ensure that everyone who is entitled to get help can be assisted immediately,” Rubiah said.

The MP also reminded the recipients of the special grant to act proactively in providing assistance to the surrounding community.

“This is especially so during the implementation of the movement control order (MCO) to curb the spread of Covid-19 in the country,” she said.

The presentation of grant is implemented in eight separate sessions with each session being attended by only three to four recipients at a time.
