RM3.4 mln to upgrade roads in two villages

SIBU: Road repairing projects at Kampung Sungai Sadit and Kampung Empawah costing a total of around RM3.4 million will benefit residents in the two villages.

Second Finance Minister, Dato Sri Wong Soon Koh said repair works on the 6.8km Kampung Sungai Sadit road cost RM1.1 million.

“The project involves Sing Road, Sadit Road, Nan Ping Road, Kwong Hua Road, Lan Lan Road, Mawah Road which started in April is now fully completed and will benefit residents of about 200 houses in the area,” he  told reporters after visiting the project site here on Friday.

Wong, who is also Minister of International Trade and E-Commerce said the repairing of the 11.59km road in Kampung Empawah area costs around RM2.3 million.

“The project includes Ensurai Road, Bukit Lan Road, connecting road to Tai Tiong School, Tieng Ann Tong Church and Ching Shan Tong Church which started in April is now 70 per cent complete,” he said.

He added that the upgrading Sungai Maaw Road and Ling Chu Ming Road cost about RM3.2 million.

“The upgrading project of 3.3km Sungai Maaw Road which costs RM1.7 million started last April and is now fully completed.

“Meanwhile, the upgrading of the 2.2km Ling Chu Ming Road costing RM1.5 million which started last May is also fully completed,” said Wong.

Maintenance Engineer of Sibu Public Works Department (JKR), Ngu Min Kiong, Sibu JKR Technician, Yong Sing Ho were among those present.
