KUCHING: Ta Ann Group and Naim Group donated RM3.5 million to the State Disaster Relief Fund (SRFP) to support the state government in the fight against the Covid-19 pandemic.

The contribution was presented to State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) deputy chairman Datuk Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah, witnessed by Deputy State Secretary Datuk Seri Abu Bakar Marzuki.

Group chairman Datuk Amar Abdul Hamed Sepawi, in a statement yesterday said the contribution was made not only in the spirit of corporate responsibility but also in humanitarian solidarity.

He said the pandemic is an unprecedented crisis which has triggered a disastrous chain reaction both domestically and internationally.

“Covid-19 has greatly affected us all. The property and export market have been badly hit. As a responsible corporate citizen, we are contributing our part to support the state government as well as our local community in spite of the challenging business environment,” he said.

Abdul Hamed added that the state government’s multi-pronged approach in the fight against the pandemic was appreciated by the public.

“In particular, we salute and owe a debt of gratitude to the healthcare professionals and frontliners who are the unsung heroes, risking their lives to help those in need.

“Through the concerted efforts of all involved, I’m confident that we will come out of this even stronger,” he said.

Besides contributing to the relief fund, Ta Ann and Naim have also contributed medical supplies and equipment to hospitals as well as various quarters which are involved in the fight against Covid-19.
