SIBU: A polyclinic costing RM30mil will be built in Jalan Teku here under the 12th Malaysia Plan. Sibu MP Oscar Ling said a site for the proposed project has been acquired.

“The piece of land for the project belonged to the Education Ministry but it has been approved for transfer to the Health Ministry.

“This is the latest development on the proposed polyclinic,” he said to reporters after officiating at the Sibu Division World Breast Feeding Week yesterday.

Ling said the project would bring vast benefit to the people as the present Jalan Oya Health Clinic was too congested.

The Health Clinic built in 1991 is receiving between 900 and 1,000 patients daily. “With the growth in the town’s population, the number of patients at the clinic is also increasing. We hope that the construction of a new polyclinic will provide better services to the people,” he said.

At the function, Ling presented 30 new wooden benches for Jalan Oya Health Clinic for the convenience of outpatients.
