KUCHING: The Kampung Jerijeh farmer’s market will soon be open to the public with the completion of the RM500,000 project in the final quarter of last year.
Urban Development and Natural Resources Assistant Minister Datuk Len Talif Salleh said the market only took three months to complete from July 17 to Oct 16 last year.
“We have allocated a total of RM500,000 from the Matu Daro District Council (MDMD) to develop the place where residents can do their business.
“We also gave approval for the operators to continue conducting their businesses here,” he said during his visit to the market to present permits from MDMD to the traders on Saturday.
The Kuala Rajang assemblyman said the state government will continue to develop the area to attract visitors and increase residents’ income.
At the market, two stalls are set aside for food and beverages while three are for dry goods such as cakes, agricultural products, and handicrafts.
Other facilities provided include a toilet, car park, and six solar lighting units around the stall site.
Earlier, Len also inspected the drainage project site in the village as well as the site for the Kampung Rajang fishermen jetty at Sungai Bapa.
