KAPIT: The RM53 million Nanga Menuan-Nanga Setepus road project will benefit nearly 3,000 people, Infrastructure and Ports Development Assistant Minister Datuk Julaihi Narawi said yesterday.

The project is divided into two phases. “The first phase involves the construction of 9km of road and two bridges — Sungai Ngua Bridge and Sungai Menyama Bridge, which will connect 10 longhouses and a school in the area.

“The second phase will involve the construction of 6km of road,” he told reporters during his recent visit to the project site.

He also assured that the state government would pay compensation to the landowners based on the current land value.

The 15km road construction project has already begun earlier this year and is expected to be completed by July 2021.

Julaihi, who is Sebuyau assemblyman, called on all residents in the area to cooperate with the project developers, Public Works Department (JKR) and related agencies to ensure that the project runs smoothly and can be completed on time.
