KUCHING: Welfare, Community Wellbeing, Women, Family and Childhood Development Minister Datuk Seri Fatimah Abdullah presented a RM5,000 grant to the Dayak Bidayuh National Association (DBNA) Women Branch last Saturday night.

Fatimah said the grant was for the branch to organise various programmes to empower Bidayuh women.

“I suggest that early next year, the branch comes up with paperwork on the programmes it wishes to implement and submit it to my ministry.

“If they are in line with the objectives of the ministry, I don’t see any problem for the ministry to assist financially,” she said when officiating at the DBNA Women Branch’s appreciation dinner held at the DBNA multi-purpose hall here.

Fatimah added that the ministry viewed every activity and programme carried out by the DBNA women for Bidayuh women as important.

She also advised Bidayuh women to work together with women from other ethnic groups in order to empower women throughout Sarawak in general.
