Mohd Chee and his wife march together to celebrate the students who successfully finished reciting the Quran at the Khatam al-Quran Ceremony of SK Haji Junid Gerigat 2023 in Gerigat.

GERIGAT: A total of RM600,000 allocated under the Rural Transformation Programme (RTP) this year will be spent to change the landscape of Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Haji Junid.

Kabong assemblyman Mohd Chee Kadir said it involved three main projects applied for by the school.

“Firstly, it is to build a school hall at a cost of RM250,000 and secondly, is to build an open hall that costs RM200,000.

“There will be another pavilion and drainage construction at the school’s football field at a cost of RM150,000,” he said when announcing the matter at the 2023 SK Haji Junid Gerigat Level Khatam Al-Quran Ceremony here, recently.

Among other things, Chee handed over a donation of RM5,000 to the Parents and Teachers Association (PIBG) to carry out school activities.

Earlier, accompanied by his wife, Meryani Yasin, he celebrated the 27 students of SK Haji Junid who successfully completed their respective recitations of the Quran with a parade around the village.

More interestingly, seven “sungans” with various designs accompanied the procession.

When touching on the khatam programme, Chee admitted that he was happy to see the children succeeded in dignifying the Quran in their daily lives.

“This effort is able to bring children closer to the holy book which has no comparison.

“Therefore, continue to make the reading of the Quran a daily routine so that the children are able to appreciate it well.

“I am also pleased to say well done to all the people of the school and PIBG who managed to organise activities like this for us to bring brotherhood to each other,” he said.

He hopes that this annual activity can be held again in the coming year.
