MIRI: The state government allocated RM600,000 for the construction of a new Surau Darul Ikhlas at Kampung Senadin Jaya.

The construction works for the new surau started in May 2019 but was halted due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

“The pre-handing over by consultants will be on November 5 this year,” said Transport Minister Datuk Lee Kim Shin today during a site visit.

He said the old Surau Darul Ikhlas which was built in 1991 is unable to accommodate the increasing population in the area.

“The village development and security committee (JKKK) and the Surau Darul Ikhlas committee then applied to the State Islamic Religious Department (Jais) Miri to build a new surau,” said Lee.
