BINTULU: A total of RM645,000 worth of minor rural project (MRP) cheques were presented to 25 village development and security committees (JKKKs) of Kakus constituency on Sunday (Jul 4).

Kakus assemblyman Datuk John Sikie Tayai presented the cheques to representatives of the JKKKs.

The simple handover ceremony of cheques was held in two separate locations — at Tatau District Office in the morning and at Rumah Roselind Ansam in Sungai Arip, Selangau in the afternoon.

“The grants are for those who are affected by the Covid-19 pandemic,” he said.

Sikie, who is also Assistant Minister in the Chief Minister’s Department (Native Laws and Customs), reminded the JKKKs to immediately deposit the cheques upon receiving them to avoid rejection from the bank due to expiration.

Also present at the handover ceremony were Acting Tatau district officer Calvin Ligong and Tatau District Office administrative officer Winnie Dian.
