KUCHING: A total of RM7 million has been allocated for a river embankment project at Batang Sadong river near Kampung Sungai Buluh in Simunjan.
Simunjan assemblyman Awla Dris said the project, when completed, would be a boon to the local economy.
“We here are very lucky when the government approved a fund of RM7 million for this river embankment project near Kampung Sungai Buloh.
He said this when officiating at the seventh anniversary celebration ceremony of the Sarawak Women’s Association Federation (PPWS) Kampung Sungai Buluh (PPWS) on Saturday (Nov 21).
Awla added after the completion of the project, the locals could also open operate food stalls, sell handicrafts and provide boat rental services to fishing enthusiasts.
Kampung Sungai Buluh, he said, had the potential to attract tourists, adding that it needed to leverage on its opportunities.
During the ceremony, the Simunjan assemblyman said the construction of ditches, futsal fields and roads had been included in the list of projects for the year 2021.
He also announced an allocation of RM3,000 to the villagers for the purchase of LCD projectors to enable students to use it for online learning facilities.
