SERIAN: Work to upgrade Jalan Padawan is underway, says Assistant Modernisation of Agriculture, Native Land and Regional Development Minister Datuk Roland Sagah Wee Inn.

He explained that work at this time involved filling the roadside slopes along the way to ensure that the road would be flat in addition to alignment works.

“The project will be completed within the stipulated period. The contractor has been given two years to complete the project.

“Construction work also involves the transfer of utility facilities such as water, electricity and telephone poles, so they are all new.

“That is why it costs RM70million,” he told reporters after officiating at the completion of the Hiap Foh Road upgrading work at Kg Beratok, here on Tuesday (Jan 12).

Meanwhile, the Tarat assemblyman said he was satisfied with the implementation of the two road repair projects that had been completed earlier than the stipulated time.

He said the road repair project at Kampung Tarat Melawi involved a cost of RM234,000 while the repair of Jalan Hiap Foh, Beratok involved a cost of RM120,000.
