SARATOK: The Sarawak government has provided an allocation of RM720,000 for the construction and upgrading of several roads to unlock the potential of areas in Pagan, especially through agricultural activities.
Kalaka assemblyman Mohamad Duri expressed his desire to connect the farms in Kalaka with the road system in stages.
“For this year through the allocation of the Rural Transformation Program (RTP), the government is upgrading the roads in the Pagan Irrigation and Drainage Department (JPS) barracks area, which is entering the third phase, in addition to the Pagan cement road in phase two and the road in Tanjung Sero, Pagan Hilir.
“Among other things, we also build roads and ditches in the Pagan Baru garden area, of which the four projects are worth RM720,000 and all of these open up the potential of the Pagan area, especially through agricultural activities.”
Mohamad said this when asked for further details after a representative of his service centre visited the project site here, on Tuesday (Aug 30).
He explained that the road, when completed and upgraded, would facilitate communication and most importantly improve the socioeconomy of the population.
“And also we must make sure that residents who have farms, it is easy for them to market their agricultural produce.”
Mohamad during the site visit was represented by Kalaka PBB secretary Cr Bohari Ahmad.
