RM90M TO UPGRADE 30 SCHOOLS IN S’WAK

BAU:  SK Serasot here, are among 30 schools in the state that have been and will be upgraded using the Industralised Building System (IBS) this year.

According to Director General of Education Malaysia, Tan Sri Dr Khair Mohamad Yusof, the 30 schools are costing a total of RM90 million. 

“SK Serasot that has completed its constructions that comprises six classes and one Science class are costing RM2.3 million. The school was planned to be completed by middle or end of August but it was completed last week, which is much earlier than the planning and we are proud with the project,” he added by when met by reporters after the work visit to SK Serasot here, yesterday. 

He also said that the school which started in April this year, are among three schools in Bau upgraded with IBS in 2017 while two other schools are SK Grogo which also has been completed this year and SK Siniawan that is still under construction progress.

“Last year we have 20 schools upgraded with IBS in Sarawak and now with 30 schools planned to be upgraded, six schools have been completed, 20 schools are still under construction and four schools are still under tendering process,” he explained. 

He said the advantages of using IBS are that it is fast in construction that saves cost and time and yet it still maintains the technical quality. 

“This will give bigger impact to the students, teachers and the school itself as in two months the project is completed enabling the students and teachers to use the classes for learning and teaching process in time,” he pointed out.

He told that when asked whether there are other schools will be upgraded using IBS in Bau, the ministry will refer first to the State Education Department for the list of schools that need the attention in the next phase.
