SIBU: The Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF) on Sunday (Oct 17) used an A400M aircraft to deliver about six tonnes of logistics and medical equipment which would be used to set up an army field hospital here.

The equipment included deployable rapid assembly shelter (Drash) tents, Utilis tents, portable air conditioners, field beds and oxygen concentrators.

The aircraft was flown by Major Mohd Hafiz Mat Yusof, assisted by Captain Noor Mohamad Farhan Mohamad Noor and Captain Muhammad Idris Ismail. It also carried four other crew members from No. 22 Squadron.

A spokesman from the Ninth Infantry Brigade said the aircraft, which departed from Subang Air Base at 7am, landed safely in Sibu Airport at 8.50am.

On hand to receive the goods were 30 personnel from the Ninth Brigade.

The army also mobilised 10 three-tonne trucks to transport the medical supplies to the location of the hospital.

“The delivery mission is to assist the government, especially the Health Ministry (MOH), to deliver logistics and medical goods for the purpose of setting up an army field hospital, which is expected to be operational in the near future.

“The establishment of the field hospital is to help the hospital manage non-Covid-19 patients as well as ease the work of medical staff at the Sibu Hospital,” added the spokesman.
