KUCHING: Two longhouses in Meluan state constituency are benefitting from significant development.
These two are Rumah Suing in Teberu, Ulu Kemalih and Rumah Buking in Ulu Kakup, Entabai.
In sharing this, Meluan assemblyman Rolland Duat Jubin said the rural road and culverts for the longhouses are being upgraded.
“Together with the Department of Drainage and Irrigation (DID), I visited the project site at Rumah Suing and Rumah Buking to monitor the project of the village road upgrading and culvert construction to the two longhouses.
“Located quite far upstream, these longhouses are not left behind in terms of development,” he said in a Facebook post on Thursday.
Duat said the dwellers at Rumah Suing will also enjoy 24-hour uninterrupted electricity supply through the Rural Electrification Scheme (RES) project funded by the state government.
He said for Rumah Suing, it too is currently being connected through the installation of broadband Wi-Fi services.
“This is supervised by the Sarawak Multimedia Authority (SMA) to improve the network of connections with the outside world,” he said.
The assemblyman said for Ulu Kakup, the dwellers are currently enjoying the convenience of 24-hour solar powered electricity.
“This is through the Sarawak Alternative Rural Electrification Scheme (Sares) which is funded by the state government.
“This facility has benefitted surrounding residents for the past two years,” he said.
At the same time, Duat also expressed his appreciation to the Sarawak government for the development brought to the constituency.
“We would like to thank the leaders of the Sarawak state government who have always cared and paid attention to the basic needs of the people in rural areas,” he added.
