KUCHING: A man was nabbed in connection with the road rage incident which happened in front of Wisma Saberkas, a series of videos of which have gone viral.
Kuching OCPD ACP Ahsmon Bajah confirmed that the 42-year-old suspect was arrested yesterday.
“The suspect was arrested by the Kuching police headquarters (IPD) Snap Strike and Harassment Team around 2pm,” he said in a WhatsApp message.
The incident had gone viral in a series of videos uploaded on Facebook, which is believed to have happened along Jalan Tun Abang Haji Openg around 3.42pm on April 28.
The video showed a male suspect had acted aggressively by getting out of his vehicle before knocking on the victim’s car window violently, as well as uttering threatening words towards the victim.
In addition, it also showed the suspect trying to stop the victim’s vehicle in a dangerous manner.
The case is being investigated under Section 506 of the Penal Code for criminal intimidation, which provides for a jail term of up to seven years or a fine, if convicted and Section 279 under the same act for driving recklessly on a public road.
