KUCHING: Good road connectivity is essential for development especially in the rural areas.
Repok assemblyman Datuk Seri Huang Tiong Sii said due to the state’s sprawling size, much still needed to be done to connect certain regions especially in the outskirts of urban centres.
As a leader who understands the importance of proper roads, Huang always strives to obtain allocations from the government to upgrade the infrastructure in his constituency.
Last Monday, for example, he visited the just-upgraded Jalan Halee, Jalan Sentebu heading towards Lanja longhouse, and Jalan Nipah that leads to Gereja Methodist Iban Pasar Sarikei.
“Proper roads are very important for rural development,” hecommented.
He noted that funds had also been allocated for upgrading Jalan Kim San and a road in Sungai Stok area.
The upgraded roads included those leading to Patrick Jinggan longhouse, Jalan Tai San, Jalan Kelompok Cina, and Jalan Nung Ann, Stok.
