Robbery, threat and break-in cases reported

KUCHING: A French student,18, was robbed by a man at Ban Hock Road here at 11am on Tuesday.

The student said in her police report that she was taking her clothes out of a washing machine at a launderette when a man in shorts and sunglasses came running to the launderette and snatched her purse containing RM110, 60 Euros and other items.

She added that her bag was placed on the table behind her and when the man snatched her purse, her handphone fell out of the purse and was badly damaged.

Police are investigating.

In another case, a 56-year-old housewife from China staying at Jalan Song reported that at about 5 pm on Tuesday she met a friend in the city who wanted to borrow her son-in-law’s car but she refused.

  The man then slapped and also threatened her. She said her daughter and son-in-law are in China. The man also asked RM15,000 from her to process the passports of her two grandchildren.

In another case, at a shop in Jalan Satok, a 41-year-old director lodged a police report claiming that when she went to her company premises on June 30, she was shocked to find the premises had been broken into.

Among the items found missing were table fans, cordless screw drivers, grinders, air conditioners, power drill, compressor, water dispenser and other electrical appliances. Total loss is estimate at RM7, 865.

Police are investigation the three cases reported.
