KUCHING: Iconic rock band Wings is set to energise the celebration of Malaysia’s 63 years of independence with a livestream concert called ‘Wings Kita Merdeka 2020’.
The concert is scheduled to take place on Aug 29 at 7.30pm local time and accessible via www.wingskitamerdeka.liveframe.my.
The concert, organised by Sonic Minds Sdn Bhd and Firm Motion Sdn Bhd, also features young Malaysian R&B artists, Zynakal and Yonnyboii, as the opening act.
Tickets are priced at RM35 which are now available online at www.galactix.asia. Those who purchase online tickets will have a chance to win lucky draw prizes.
The concert will also mark Wings’ 35 years in the music industry and serves as a special gift for Wings’ fans.
The group consists lead vocalist Datuk Ahmad Azhar Othman or Datuk Awie, followed by Edrie Hashim (guitar), Azmi Hashim or Black (drum), Kamarullizam Kamarudin or Syam (guitar) and Samsaidi Ulong Idris or Eddie (bass).
It is also an opportunity for Wings to send their message of appreciation, love and solidarity to all Malaysians. They also wish to convey this message to the world as a whole, during these difficult and challenging times.
In honouring the sacrifices made by heroes of Malaysia, lead singer Awie said, “All our heroes have helped us achieve the country’s independence to be where we are today. For those today who strive to protect us, we also salute them. They truly are the inspiration for this concert.”
