KUCHING: Parti Sarawak Bersatu (PSB) and Parti Bumi Kenyalang (PBK) sprung back to life after going into hibernation mode due to their dismal performance during the 12th state election in Dec last year.
In stating this, Stampin incumbent MP’s Special Assistant Michael Kong Feng Nian pointed out that it is evident that both parties’ real role in the state election was to be a ‘trojan horse’ to disrupt the opposition votes.
“After much promise and despite trying to promote itself as a formidable force by spending millions on their election campaign during the 12th state election, PSB won four seats.
“Now, with the current news we hear about who PSB has approached to stand as a candidate under the PSB ticket, the signals cannot be any clearer,” he said in a statement today.
In light of this, he said that to see PSB’s intention and determination as a political party, voters only need to look at the recent resignation of See Chee How from PSB.
“Just months after his election as a state legislative assemblyman under the PSB ticket, See Chee How left PSB.
“Despite the clear wordings under Article 17(7) of the Constitution of Sarawak of the state of Sarawak and a Letter of Undertaking from See Chee How, the Speaker refused to declare the seat vacant,” he said.
Kong added that despite this ruling (which was against PSB’s favour), PSB just sat quietly and accepted the Speaker’s ruling without giving any fight.
“So now we have seen instances where PSB shouts the loudest but turns into mice when faced with adversity.
“If PSB does not even bother to take up the challenge to uphold the people’s mandate in Batu Lintang, then likewise we cannot really expect PSB to speak up for the people of Sarawak,” he said.
