MIRI: By speeding up operations at the Road Transport Department (RTD) Miri, Transport Minister Datuk Lee Kim Shin said that it will help to better manage visitors as well as avoid overcrowding.

Lee said that he has discussed this with Miri RTD chief Maya Morshidi to resolve the situation and address the issues as soon as possible.

“I have also asked RTD Miri to write to Telekom to improve the internet speed,” Lee said after visiting Miri RTD on Monday (Jul 26).

On July 23, following a discussion with RTD Sarawak director Norizan Jili, the number of appointment slots and service counters have been increased to address the issue of overcrowding.

At the moment, five service counters are open at RTD Miri.

On another note, Lee also suggested to RTD Miri to initiate an outreach programme to Subis, Marudi, Beluru, and Telang Usan to handle services such as license renewal and road tax.
