RTM’s Sari Alam encourages food production

KUALA LUMPUR: As an initiative to help people manage their expenses amid rising vegetable and fruit prices, Radio Television Malaysia (RTM) has introduced the ‘Sari Alam’ programme to share valuable information on cultivating, nurturing, and benefitting from various plants, including vegetables, fruits, and traditional salad (ulam).

In a statement yesterday, RTM said the 26-episode ‘Sari Alam’ was broadcast every Monday to Thursday at 4.30 pm on TV1 and was also available online via RTMKlik at rtmklik.rtm.gov.my.

The programme features episodes on various topics, including the cultivation of kaffir lime (Citrus Hystrix) managed by Nasaruddin Ramli in Semenyih, Selangor; passion fruit grown by Yong Ah Lon in Bentong, Pahang; and MD 2 pineapple farming by Hafiz Arifin in Janda Baik, Pahang.

“Discover the success stories behind wing bean cultivation in Bukit Tinggi, Pahang, with Mow Mei Yin; red dates cultivation with Lim Chim Kee in Raub, Pahang; Mohd Syafiq’s fig farming in Janda Baik, Pahang; old cucumber farming with Kamarul Norzan; bitter gourd cultivation in Bentong, Pahang, with entrepreneur Cheng Tai Wai; and cashew tree cultivation in Sepang, Selangor.

“There are also tips to nurture pennywort (pegaga) by Hafizi Riduan in Selangor; cassava farming by Salihudin Nordin in Sepang, Selangor; and advice on cultivating pisang Tampuk by Solikin Sulaiman in Sepang, who also shares his experiences and guidance on taking care of the plant until harvest,” it added.

Viewers also can enjoy episodes featuring yellow sugarcane, long beans, and Bentong ginger (scientifically known as Zingiber Officinalea), all cultivated in Bentong, Pahang. — BERNAMA
