SADONG JAYA: A rugby field is being developed at SMK Pesantren Abdul Taib Mahmud with allocation from the state government.
According to a report by the Sarawak Public Communications Unit (Ukas), the rugby field is being established to cultivate students’ interest in the sport as well as to complement the sports facilities at the school.
Sadong Jaya assemblyman Aidel Lariwoo said the awareness of students was much needed in order to highlight their potential and talent in the field of rugby.
He said sports could also build strength and personal character, while producing a young generation active in the field.
“The completion of this project will provide rugby sports facilities for students at the school,” he said during a survey of the rugby field at SMK Pesantren Abdul Taib Mahmud on Monday (Feb 8).
He said works to plant grass on the rugby field will be carried out in the near future.
