Rumah Kasaw to get RM40,000 in grants

KAPIT: Pelagus state assemblyman, Wilson Nyabong Ijang announced a RM35,000 grant for Rumah Kasaw Village Security and Development Committee (JKKK) and a RM5,000 grant for the longhouse’s Women’s Bureau.

He made the announcement after officiating at the ‘Ngiling Bidai’ ceremony at Kampung Genturong Sawang, Jalan Melekunto here.

Speaking at the function, Nyabong urged the villagers to continue support their elected people’s representative to ensure continuous development in their areas.

“With the ‘Master Development Planning’ for Pelagus, I will expedite the development here in terms of infrastructure and amenity for the benefit of the people” he said.

Nyabong also said he had requested the Ministry of Education Malaysia (MOE) to build a secondary school in Pelagus.

“There are twelve primary schools in Pelagus constituency but no secondary school. There is a need to build one here,” he said.

He added that a piece of land along Jalan Melekun had been identified as the site for the secondary school.

Meanwhile, on the frequent water disruption in Kampung Genturong Sawang, Nyabong proposed to erect several water storage tanks in the vicinity so as to provide regular water supply to the households in the area.

He also advised Kampung Genturong Sawang JKKK to identify a piece of land to build a Multi-purpose hall and also a recreational ground for sporting activities.

Present at the function were Political Secretary to Chief Minister, Nicholas Kudi Jantai and Administrative officer of Kapit District Office, Philomena Assin.
