KAPIT: Kapit District Council is all set to organise its first Community Development and Local Agenda (LA) 21 Programme for this year.
To be held at Rumah Sekudan at Sungai Pelagus, Batang Rajang from June 28 to 29 June, the programme is targeted at the Pelagus Zone.
Chairing a committee meeting at the conference room of the council on Tuesday afternoon, the assistant secretary of the council Kelimbik Sibat said the programme involved direct community participation. Thus, it would enhance closer rapport between the people, council and the various government agencies and political leaders.
Among the activities to be carried out on the first day of the programme will be fogging and talks by the various government agencies including the Fire and Rescue Department, council, medical, District Office, Agriculture and the police.
Activities on the second day include ‘gotong royong’ (mutual assist programme) to clean the longhouse compound, a telematch, handicraft-making and health screening.
Kapit MP Datuk Alexander Nanta Linggi is scheduled to officiate at the closing ceremony later in the evening.
