KUCHING: Over 2,000 people took part in the annual Colour Rush 2019 charity run to raise awareness on childhood cancer.

The run held at Saradise Kuching was organised by the Sarawak Children’s Cancer Society (SCCS) and supported by Lead Sports Centre and ouryouth.my.

Held for the 7th year, the 5km fun run was held in conjunction with the Childhood Cancer awareness month in September. The run was supposed to be held on Sep 15 but was postponed to yesterday due to the haze then.

The run’s main aim this year is to encourage the younger generation to demonstrate more understanding and empathy towards children with cancer.

SCCS Treasurer Gary Ho, ouryouth.my founder Datuk Patrick Liew and Lea Group of Companies managing director were present to flag off the event at 6.35am yesterday.

Before the run, runners had also participated in a zumba dance for a warm up session. They then threw the coloured powder into the air to mark the start of the run.

The Colour Rush’s signature colour powder is not just a fun addition to the event, but it also represents support for the children who bring colour and joy in people lives.

Some cancer survivors and their families also participated in the event in support of the cause and other families battling childhood cancer.
