BINTULU: The state government has always been prioritising rural areas to better improve their wellbeing.

Assistant Minister of Native Laws and Customers Datuk John Sikie Tayai said huge allocations provided by the state government have proven its commitment to further develop the rural residents.

Sikie said this on Sunday after visiting four longhouses in Tatau.

Currently, the facilities at these longhouses including new roads are being carried out.

During the trip, Sikie went to Rumah Gundi Chunggat, Nanga Biban, Tatau; Rumah Panjang Baharu, Rumah Kelambu Meringgai, Muput, Tatau; Rumah Thomas Jalai, Jalan Sangan, Merit and Rumah Juni Linnyan, KM 5, Jalan Tatau/Selangau, Tatau.

At Rumah Thomas Jalai, Sikie witnessed the handover of the project to build a new longhouse costing RM100,000.

“For development projects implemented within Kakus constituency, I will monitor them to ensure that they are implemented smoothly,” said Sikie who is the incumbent Kakus assemblyman.
