Rural Development Ministry implements rural infrastructure projects for Sarawak under 11MP

KUALA LUMPUR: The Rural Development Ministry has been and is implementing various infrastructure projects involving water and electricity supply and rural roads in Sarawak under the 11th Malaysia Plan (11MP), the Dewan Rakyat was told today.

Its minister, Datuk Dr Abd Latiff Ahmad, said these include 15 projects under the Rural Electricity Supply programme.

“Of the total, four projects are in the midst of appointing consultants, one project in the design process, five projects in the implementation phase and five others have been completed,” he said in reply to Datuk Wilson Ugak Anak Kumbong (GPS-Hulu Rajang) during Question Time.

On the implementation status of the Rural Water Supply programme, he said a total of 40 projects were being and would be implemented at an overall cost of RM2.4 billion.

He said 11 out of projects had been completed, 13 were under construction and 16 others were at the design level.

Meanwhile, Abd Latiff said 64 projects have been and were being implemented under the Rural Road programme, comprising 39 projects at the consultant appointment and design levels, procurement level (three projects), under construction (nine projects) and completed (13 projects). – Bernama
