SEBAUH: Rural digitalisation will open up wider opportunities in terms of economy and education.

Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (PPBM) Sarawak chairman Jaziri Alkaf Abdillah Suffian said digital connection is an important factor to develop the rural community.

“Rural digitalisation must be given priority because it will provide the rural community many opportunities not only in economy but also education.

“With this, we will be able to produce a rural generation with high potential to be on the same level of competitiveness as other places in Malaysia and even foreign countries,” he said.

He said this when officiating at a ceremony to lay the foundation stones of the new Rh Sanggong Japar at Sg Teba, Lalang here on Tuesday.

He was accompanied by Bersatu Sarawak information chief Associate Lieutenant (B) Duke Janteng.

Janteng is also the Bersatu Bintulu divisional head and Bintulu Community Welfare Club chairman.

During the event, Jaziri also mentioned that Bersatu Sarawak will continue to give high commitment and concern to the needs and voices of the rural community under the leadership of Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin who is also the party’s president.

“I also pledge to fully support the prime minister’s leadership as well as to give full cooperation with the state government to bring development to Sarawakians,” he added.

On the welfare club, it was established to ensure that the welfare and basic needs of the local community are taken care of, apart from channelling the community’s voices to the various ministries and government agencies.

“We only want what’s best for Sarawakians,” he added.

“The basic facilities that are now enjoyed here and other places will be able to bring about socio-economic activities that will surely benefit many people.”

The programme was attended by about 200 people.
