KUCHING: Efforts to provide rural electricity supply under the Application of Additional and Late Fund (ALAF) initiative that is fully funded by the Sarawak government will continue in the state.

Deputy Minister of Utility and Telecommunications II, Datuk Dr Abdul Rahman Junaidi said as of now, no changes have been made to the initiative to ease the burden of rural communities.

“Therefore, heads of households can immediately apply to our ministry through their respective district office in order to benefit from the initiative,” he said.

He said the aid would be given to those in the B40 bracket, but those who are categorised M20 and M40 can apply for it as well with the evaluation and approval to be made by the respective district office and the ministry.

“We have accepted almost 20,000 applications since two years ago with nearly 30 per cent of the projects done by us,” he said.
