KUCHING: Efforts are being stepped upon the delivery of rural electrification projects to achieve the government’s aspiration to become a developed state in 2030

To meet this goal the state government is working with Sarawak Energy Berhad (SEB) on numerous fronts like the Rural Power Supply System (RPSS) Project, Rural Electrification Scheme, Mini Hydro as well as the Sarawak Alternative Rural Electrification Scheme and Additional or Late Applicant Fund (ALAF).

Utility and Telecommunication Minister Datuk Julaihi Narawi said the ministry and SEB had increased the number of contractors to carry out the ALAF programme.

“To date, a total of 20 contractors with 33 groups of employees are executing the ALAF throughout the state,” he said at a Rural Electricity Supply ALAF Scheme ceremony.

The ceremony to mark the successful electrification of households in Kampung Buntal was inaugurated by Julaihi here on Thursday (March 3).

He pointed out that the ministry and SEB were targeting 52 groups of skilled electrical workers to complete ALAF projects by 2025.
