KUCHING: The Sarawak Health Department will conduct contact tracing for a case confirmed to be positive by the Sabah Health Department.

According to Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC), the department on Sept 15 was informed by the Sabah Health Department about a confirmed Covid-19 case.

The case is an engineer and manager of a plantation company, originally from Pulau Pinang.

“The case was screened by Sandakan Health Clinic on Sept 10 through active monitoring screening for visitors from outside Sabah.

“However, the case entered Sarawak by road through the   Merapok checkpoint Lawas on Sept 11, passing through Limbang division, Brunei and Miri division. He spent the night in Bintulu before arriving in Belaga on Sept 12.

“On Sept 13, the case again travelled to Bintulu and Mukah before returning to Belaga on Sept 14,” said the SDMC in a statement today.

The test result was only obtained on Sept 15 by the Sabah Health Department which conveyed the information to the  Sarawak Health Department.

The Bintulu Divisional Health Office acted immediately to detect the case which was admitted to Bintulu Hospital on Sept 16 for further treatment.

“The department will conduct contact tracing to detect possible Covid-19 infection in all places and premises that have been visited by this case,” said the SDMC.
