KUCHING: The Association of Wives of Ministers and Assistant Ministers of Sarawak (SABATI) has given assistance to the victims of a recent fire incident in Kampung Bintawa Hilir.

The contribution was presented by SABATI honorary treasurer, Datin Siti Shorgayah Ahmad Zaidin at the temporary shelter, Bintawa Hilir Multipurpose Hall recently.

Siti Shorgayah was representing SABATI chairperson Datuk Amar Juma’ani Tuanku Bujang.
When met, she said the contributions to the victims of natural disasters such as fires are crucial to help them recover and resume normal lives.

“The assistance and contributions involve various aspects such as financial assistance, humanitarian aid, medical assistance, food, clean water, temporary shelter, clothing, and daily necessities,” she said.

She expressed hope that the contribution would assist the fire victims and their families in overcoming the challenges they face.

Meanwhile, the fire, which occurred on Jan 5 at around 1.20 am, damaged nine houses—seven completely destroyed and two partially affected by fire debris – leaving 44 individuals homeless.
