KUCHING: Sarawak United National Youth Organisation (SABERKAS) remains relevant as a youth organisation in Sarawak.

Its president Datuk Seri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah said SABERKAS had organised various programmes on volunteerism, education, economy, and community welfare for its members and that it always applied management, administration and leadership skills to train its members.

“ I am very confident that SABERKAS will continue to be consistent in explaining its role and functions well to the youth in Sarawak,” he said.

The Minister of Youth, Sports and Entrepreneur Development said this in the text of his speech read by SABERKAS vice president Abang Abdul Aziz Datuk Abang Abdul Rauf at the SABERKAS 2023 Digital Economy Empowerment Workshop North Zone organised by SABERKAS Sarawak in collaboration with SABERKAS Piasau Branch here yesterday afternoon.

Abdul Karim explained that SABERKAS was open to working with anyone for mutual benefit and for producing positive youth and a prosperous community.

On the workshop yesterday afternoon, he said it was held to improve the knowledge and skills of SABERKAS youth in the digital economy.

“This kind of workshop is in line with the Sarawak Premier’s desire to see Sarawak as a leading state in the development and practice of digital work in many matters, including in areas based on the new economy.

“Programmes like this also provide opportunities and space for the young generation of SABERKAS to improve their social skills such as communication, critical thinking and building social and economic networks,” he said.

Abdul Karim hoped that such workshops would continue to be organised not only by SABERKAS but also by individuals, associations or clubs for the good of the state.

The workshop, which attracted around 30 participants, featured speakers from CENTEXS, Sarawak Digital Economy Corporation (SDEC), Ministry of International Trade, Industry and Investment (MINTRED) and Sarawak E-sports Association (SESA).

Among the modules presented were Introduction to the Digital Economy, Educational Opportunities in the Digital Economy, Assistance and the Role of the Government in the Digital Economy, as well as E-sports and the Digital Economy.
