KUCHING: The new State Criminal Investigation Department (CID) chief SAC Dennis Leong Soon Kuai is honoured to serve Sarawak, his home state.

Leong is taking over the position from Dato Dev Kumar, who is promoted to Bukit Aman as the deputy director (operations) for Crime Prevention and Community Safety Department, effective from May 14.

During the handing over of duty ceremony yesterday, Leong said that Dato Dev had set-up a ‘well-oiled’ team in the State and he would continue to improve it.

“It is an honour for me and my family to be serving in my own home state.

“Dato Dev Kumar has set up a ‘well-oiled’ team in Sarawak and as a firm believer in the saying ‘if things is not broken, there’s no need to repair it’, I’ll just continue to oil it occasionally,” said Leong.

Meanwhile, State Commissioner of Police Datuk Seri Amer Awal said that there is no serious incident report received throughout the 14th general election (GE14) period.

“The election process in the state went well without any serious incidents due to the proper and detailed plan that we have been doing since last year, and also the contribution of teamwork efforts from the police,” he said.

Amer also reminded all the senior police officers in the state to continue focusing on their jobs so that every case can be solved quickly.
