KUCHING: Sacofa Sdn Bhd (Sacofa) donated nearly RM20,000 to 23 suraus, mosques, religious schools and ongoing Ramadan Bazaars in support of the Muslim community in the state during this holy month of Ramadan.
The annual activity is part of Sacofa’s overall Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme to give back to the community through community outreach and corporate philanthropy.
Other than places of worship, Sacofa had also donated to other organisations such as local councils, primary and secondary schools, institutions of higher learning, veterans’ associations, sports associations, and organisations supporting the physically challenged.
Sacofa is the leading telecommunications infrastructure company in the state. The contributions are in line with its ongoing commitment to community development and investment.
According to Sacofa in a media statement today, the company had in previous years contributed a total of RM146,668 while the cumulative amount donated in conjunction with the fasting month over the past three years is approximately RM50,000.
Its managing director Zaid Zaini said, “The holy month of Ramadan is a time for spiritual reflection about kindness, generosity, and benevolence, especially when it comes to the people who enrich our lives and the communities to which we belong.
“Ramadan is an annual and timeless reminder to all about the importance of goodwill and humanitarianism, and it is in that spirit that we continue to invest in the well-being and the continuity of communities throughout Sarawak.
“We also constantly take proactive measures in ensuring the welfare of the needy from a variety of backgrounds and our activities are helping a broad spectrum of needy individuals and organisations as part of our contribution to the communities in which we operate,” he said.
