KUCHING: The practice of distributing sacrificial meat to the people, especially the needy, in conjunction with Hari Raya Aidiladha in Taman Desa Guru, Semariang, near here will continue to be an annual affair.

The assurance came from Welfare, Community Wellbeing, Women, Family and Childhood Development Minister Datuk Seri Fatimah Abdullah after distributing sacrificial meat in conjunction with Hari Raya Aidiladha at Surau Darul Mualimin yesterday.

Five welfare homes, namely Rumah Amal Nur Murni, Pusat Jagaan Laman Kaseh, AnakAnak Baiturrammah, Rumah Sri Kenangan and Rumah Kanak Kanak Norkiah received the meat.

Sixteen cows were sacrificed at the mosque. “I contributed one cow while the rest were contributed by the residents in the area,” Fatimah said, noting the strong spirit of cooperation among the community in Taman Desa Guru. About 100 residents from 40 families, including the younger generation, participated in the sacrificial ritual.
