KUCHING: Many viewers have expressed their sadness at the conversion of TV channel, ntv7 channel, which has been broadcasting since Apr 7, 1998, to DidikTV KPM, a new educational television programme, starting on Wednesday

One of them is the general manager of the Centre of Technical Excellence Sarawak (Centexs), Mohamad Shahren Mohamad Yusri who shared his sadness on his Facebook account.

Mohamad said the news presenter audition in 2002 at Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (Unimas) was one of his most beautiful memories with ntv7 which had enabled him to go further in the broadcasting field.

“I am also one of the millions of Malaysians who are sad because ntv7 was the first television station to give me the opportunity to showcase my talent as a news presenter.

“Despite being successfully selected for the finals (during the audition in 2002 at Unimas), I was not selected as one of the winners at that time.

“However, I still appreciate the opportunity because from that experience, I managed to go further in the broadcasting field on other television stations.

“From news presenters to hosts for entertainment show, youth programme as well as Perdana talk — I have been able to achieve my childhood dream as a result of my courage to attend the (ntv7) audition,” he said.

In the same post, Mohamad Shahren also thanked and bade ntv7 goodbye for the opportunity given to him.

Meanwhile, Media Prima, which owns and operates four free-to-air television stations — TV3, TV9, ntv7 and 8TV — in a statement on Wednesday confirmed that there was no change to the ownership of Media Prima Berhad television channel under Media Prima Television Network, namely ntv7.

“Both Media Prima and the Ministry of Education, as strategic collaborators, are committed towards the same objective — increasing the access of quality education content to students nationwide. Both parties understand that it will take more than one year to build this initiative up.

“We believe this will not only be beneficial to students in the new normal but also serves as an effective tool for supplementary teaching and learning,” the statement added.
