Safer road travel at night soon with LED lights in Nangka

SIBU: Nangka residents will enjoy brighter roads at night soon with lamp posts fitted with LED lights.

Deputy Minister for Education, Innovation and Talent Development Datuk Dr Annuar Rapaee said the LED lights will be installed in phases at strategic places in his constituency.

The Nangka assemblyman said it will be implemented not only in villages but also longhouses.

“I have a special allocation for this purposes. I hope that the tendering process will be settled within a month and the installation will start either January or February next year,” he said during the appreciation ceremony for the Village Security and Development Committee (JKKKs) under Nangka constituency at Lakis Hall here yesterday (Nov 26).

Dr Annuar said he will discuss the matters with the Sibu Municipal Council (SMC) to ensure installation works progress smoothly.

Meanwhile, in view of the monsoon season, he reminded the JKKK members in three low lying areas, namely Kampung Seduan/Kampung Jeriah, Teku and Kampung Hijrah to watch out for clogged drains or ditches.

“Do inform me if ditches in your area are not cleared up. Please ilet me earlier, don’t wait until it is flooded,” he added.

Amog those present were Sayed Azmi Wan Junaidi,  a political secretary to the Premier, and SMC deputy chairman Mohammed Abdullah Izkandar Roseley.
