KUCHING: The Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah and Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin’s decision to declare the state of emergency shows that they put the people’s safety at utmost priority.

“The number of Covid-19 cases in the state is increasing by the day and the people need to learn from what had happened in other countries as a lesson.

“Although we do not wish for a state of emergency to be declared, it seems like we have no other option when it comes to the lives of our people,” Bukit Semuja Assemblyman John Illus told New Sarawak Tribune today (Jan 12).

He further concurred with the Prime Minister who called upon the politicians to stop playing politics over the matter, adding that everyone should work together for the wellbeing of the people.

“Only with political stability can we overcome this unprecedented Covid-19 pandemic and subsequently, be able to recover our economy in a rapid manner,” he added.
