SAMARAHAN: The Sarawak Land Consolidation and Rehabilitation Authority (Salcra) Jaya Sdn Berhad said it does not and will not condone any illegal act or activities by any of its employees.

Its chief operating officer Grover Peter Gani, in a statement today (Aug 18), said that it would let the police carry out the investigation professionally and independently on a recent case involving one of its trailer drivers.

The 34-year-old driver was arrested by the police at a roadblock at Serian-Sri Aman Road on Aug 12 after he allegedly carried four illegal immigrants in the cabin of the vehicle.

The illegals, aged between 27 and 48, have failed to produce any valid travel documents when checked.

The driver is now being investigated under the Anti-Trafficking in Persons and Anti-Smuggling of Migrants Act 2007.

Grover added that the management too would conduct its own internal investigation regarding the matter.

“I hope with my explanation, the public will not speculate on the matter, and allow the police to do their investigation thoroughly,” he said.
