Samarahan declared red zone

KUCHING: After 41 positive cases have been detected in Samarahan as of yesterday the division has been declared a Covid-19 red zone.

“The areas with the positive cases include Desa Ilmu, Tanjung Bundong, Muara Tuang, Uni Garden and Sadong Jaya,” said State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) deputy chairman Datuk Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah yesterday during a press conference on daily updates concerning Covid-19.

As of April 4, Kota Samarahan recorded 34 positive cases, three deaths and five persons under investigation (PUI).

“In Kuching there are 163 positive cases in Semariang (Semariang Batu, Jalan Bentara, Taman Sukma, Bandar Baru Semariang), Satok (Satok proper, Jalan Patingan, Sungai Maong, Sungai Tengah), Tan Sri Wangi (Taman Sri Wangi, Laruh Skim, Kampung Pinang Jawa), and Demak Laut (Demak Laut, Demak Baru,Kampung Rampangi),” he said.

The other areas include those in Zone One area (Jalan Arang, Stampin, Jalan Lapangan Terbang, Taman Stampin Barat, Kampung Cemerlang, Jalan Stampin Timur, Jalan Stampin Tengah), Zone Two (Tabuan Height, Taman BDC, Jalan Stutong, Jalan Kempas, Batu Lintang), Zone Three (Kenny Hill, Central Park); Zone Four (MK Seri Setia, Tabuan Laru, Muara Tabuan, Tabuan Desa), Zone 5 (Lorong Abdul Rahim, Taman Green Height), Zone 6 (Taman Riverview, Batu 22) and Zone Seven (Jalan Semaba, Batu Kawa, Taman Desa Wira, Sunny Hill, Jalan Stapok, Taman Beverly).

“Only Kapit division remains a green zone. We hope it would continue to remain so,” he said.

Red zones are those with positive cases of more than 41, while one to 40 cases are classified as orange zone, and zero case means green zone.

The current orange zones are Serian, Sri Aman, Betong, Sarikei, Sibu, Mukah, Bintulu, Miri and Limbang.
