Samarahan, Sri Aman turn orange from yellow

KUCHING: Both the districts of Samarahan and Sri Aman have changed status from yellow to orange after respectively recording 22 and 29 local infection cases in the last 14 days.

The Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) said Selangau district, on the other hand, had changed from orange to yellow after recording only 16 local infection cases in the last fortnight.

“The districts of Song, Serian, Subis, Julau, Betong, Meradong, Kuching, Kapit, Bintulu, Miri and Sibu remain red with a total of 2,670 local infection cases reported in the 11 districts in the last 14 days,” it said in a statement today.

Meanwhile, the districts of Bau, Mukah, and Sarikei retained their orange status with an overall total of 84 local infection cases recorded in the last 14 days.

“Dalat, Limbang, Telang Usan, Tanjung Manis, Kanowit, Belaga, Lundu, Bukit Mabong, Tatau, Pusa, Asajaya, Beluru, Saratok, and Sebauh districts remain yellow with a total of 77 local infection cases reported in the last 14 days,” said SDMC.

The committee said 227 new cases had recovered and were discharged today — 66 from Miri Hospital, Bintulu Hospital (52), Betong Low-Risk Treatment Centre (PKRC) (39), Sarawak General Hospital (27), Sibu Hospital (23), PKRC under Kapit Hospital (12), and Sarikei Hospital (eight).

“This brings the total number of recovered and discharged cases to 10,628 or 81.07 percent of total Covid-19 cases in Sarawak,” it added.

It said 2,341 active cases were still being isolated and treated at hospital wards and PKRCs statewide.

“Today, 243 new person under investigation (PUI) cases were reported and two are still pending laboratory results,” said SDMC.
