Samarahan tunrs red, Kuching back to orange

KUCHING: Samarahan District has been declared a red zone while Kuching reverted back to an orange zone today.

The State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) said 57 locally transmitted cases were recorded in Samarahan District within the past 14 days which resulted in the declaration of the district as a red zone.

It said Kuching, which was previously a yellow zone, has recorded 28 locally transmitted cases in the past two weeks.

“Julau, Subis, Beluru, Kapit, Song, Dalat, Bintulu, Kanowit, Miri and Sibu districts remain as red zones with a total of 2,051 cases of locally transmitted cases reported in the last 14 days,” it said in a statement today.

The committee also noted that Lundu and Sri Aman remain as orange zones with a total of 63 locally transmitted cases reported in the two districts in the last 14 days.

“Bau, Matu, Selangau, Betong, Saratok, Sarikei, Sebauh, Lawas, Bukit Mabong, Tatau, Pakan, Serian, Belaga and Meradong districts remain as yellow zones with a total of 106 locally transmitted cases reported in the past 14 days.

“Twelve other districts remain as green zones,” it added.
