KUCHING:  Samarahan district has now been categorised as a yellow zone following the detection of one locally transmitted positive Covid-19 case in the area.

State Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) said the case was one of three positive Covid-19 cases detected in the state today.

“With the detection of one locally transmitted case in Samarahan today, its Covid-19 green status has been changed to yellow.

“This means two districts in Sarawak are currently Covid-19 yellow zones (with 40 or fewer Covid-19 cases), namely Kuching and Samarahan,” it said in a statement yesterday.

The committee noted the cases were still being investigated and assured that contact tracing involving family members and workplaces were ongoing.

As of yesterday, SDMC said there were 11 Covid-19 patients currently receiving treatment at isolation wards in hospitals throughout Sarawak, with the total number of deaths remaining at 18 or 3.11 percent

On another note, SDMC said the statewide monitoring of standard operating procedure (SOP) compliance was still ongoing.
