Samling presents biosafety cabinet to Miri Hospital

MIRI: Samling Resources Sdn Bhd donated another biosafety cabinet to Miri Hospital to increase the capacity for the extraction process of Covid-19 samples from 600 to 1,000 samples per day.

The handing over ceremony was held at Miri Hospital on Monday (May 17), with Miri Hospital director Dr Jack Wong receiving the donation on behalf of the hospital and witnessed by minister-in-charge of Miri Division Disaster Management Committee (MDDMC) Datuk Lee Kim Shin.

Also present during the event were Acting Miri Resident Abdul Aziz Mohamad Yusuf who is also chairman of the MDDMC and Miri Health officer Dr P Raviwharmman.

Lee expressed his gratitude to Samling Resources Sdn Bhd and Shin Yang Shipping Sdn Bhd for this effort which gave some relief to Miri Hospital in handling swab test samples.

Samling Resources Sdn Bhd donated another biosafety cabinet to Miri Hospital to increase the capacity for the extraction process which can now maximise the use of automated extraction and PCR machines from a capacity of 600 samples to an estimated increase of 800-1,000 samples per day.

In 2020, Samling Resources Sdn Bhd has also donated two biosafety cabinets — one to Tudan Health Clinic and another one to Miri Hospital.
