KUCHING: Two cooks, who were doing laundry at a laundromat in Jalan Song here, have fallen victim to armed robbery.

The two 19-year-olds were waiting for their laundry to be done when a samurai-wielding man demanded they hand over their valuables.

The scared duo complied and the robber made his getaway on a motorcycle with the victims’ mobile phones, wallets, cash and bank cards.

Also taken in yesterday morning’s crime were motorcycle keys and road tax.

Police are looking at CCTV recordings from nearby shops in their hunt for the robber.

In another separate case, a housewife was robbed of her handbag at 7.45am on Wednesday.

She was walking to her car parked at a lot in front of the Stutong market when a motorcyclist rode up behind her, grabbed her handbag and rode off.

The victim said it happened so fast that she did not get a look at the licence plate.

The snatch thief escaped with personal documents including bank cards, identification cards, insurance cards, a mobile phone and RM400.
