Santubong fishing community gets assistance

KUCHING: The Sarawak Marine Fisheries Department (MFD) held a Touch Point Session and Interaction with the fishing community at its office in Santubong.

During the session on Wednesday, MFD handed out assistance to fishermen in the Santubong area and at the same time getting to know and understand their problems.

Sarawak MFD director Bohari Leng also released 15,000 barramundi (siakap) fish fry into the Santubong river.

The main purpose for this was to ensure enough supply of fish in the river.

Also present at the ceremony were MFD deputy director Haliza Sulaiman, MFD Region 1 head Ishak Yusuf, representatives from the Fisheries Development Authority of Malaysia (LKIM), Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) Sarawak Region and National Anti-drugs Agency (AADK) Kuching.
