KUCHING: The search and rescue (SAR) operation to locate missing person Langkau Belum, 85, at Rumah Buda Meriok Nanga Engkilili, Sri Aman has been called off following no new indicators or clues.

State Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) assistant operations director Tiong Ling Hii said the victim, who was reported missing in a nearby forest since Feb 9, had been called off and would only be reactivated if authorities found new leads.

“Operation has been call off until we find new leads,” said Tiong when contacted yesterday.

On Feb 9, Langkau, was reported missing after leaving his house at 11am and failed to return home since.

His children lodged a report of a missing person at Engkilili police station.

Firefighters were then alerted and a SAR operation was launched.

However, after days of failed search, a K9 detector dog unit was deployed to assist in the search.

Some villagers, including a paranormal team, also joined the search.
